Hi, my name is Emily Peters.
I have a mom, a dad, and a sister. I am from Cincinnati, Ohio. I went to Clark Montessori High School and my hobbies while in high school included: music (Viola, Piano, Guitar, Steel Drum), Visual Art (Painting, Ceramics, Metals), Community Service, Political Activism, and Cross Country. I am currently in Secondary Education with a concentration in Mathematics. I have always enjoyed working with specifically younger children, but I enjoy working with people of all ages. I get satisfaction knowing I have helped someone.I continue to play music and continue to do art as a hobby. I have been a vegetarian my whole life. I spend a lot of my free time babysitting, being with my friends, and playing music. I volunteered at many art centers teaching younger children techniques. I also teach music to children in my teacher's studio. I was a tutor in math and in english during high school.

Being a well-rounded teacher has many benefits and can improve students' learning as well as helping the teacher to become a better educator. Continuing a teacher's education can be a good thing for students to see. It is important that teachers are good role models for students because so much of their time is spent at school. We explored this during class when we were given the assignment of creating our own lesson plan and presenting it to the class. I hope to help my future students to become great leaders by playing group initiatives and assigning lots of presentations. I think that personal growth will come from learning leadership skills.

Making sure that the students are engaged and interested in the material makes everyone's job a little easier. It is hard sometimes for a student to know when the right time is to be creative and when they should be learning the material given to them. What I hope to do is to find a bridge so that both can happen at the same time. In our class, we were given activities -- like when we were learning about how to make a rubric we judged cookies. That was a good example of how rubrics should be set, and the whole class was engaged and excited. I think that a big part of being constructive is to spend time working with technology. I think that working with technology and knowing how to work technology are valuable tools that students of this generation learn to do. In our class we go to the computers and look up the useful websites ourselves, making an account, so that we know and we learn how to use that technology once we leave the classroom. I hope to use the same methods, by using technology and making sure that I give a run-through of the site, and just make sure that my students are comfortable with the information given to them.
